Ymchwil 2025 ar amser sgrîn / defnydd o dechnoleg (2025)
Annwyl Rieni,
Mae ymchwil diweddar wedi rhoi mewnwelediadau gwerthfawr i effaith amser sgrin ar berfformiad academaidd, lles ac ymddygiad plant. Mae astudiaethau o 2025 yn pwysleisio, er bod technoleg yn chwarae rhan hanfodol mewn addysg, y gall gormod o amser sgrin—yn enwedig defnydd hamddenol heb oruchwyliaeth—gael effeithiau negyddol ar ddysgu, cwsg, ymddygiad ac iechyd meddwl.
Canfyddiadau Allweddol o Ymchwil Ddiweddar:
• Perfformiad Academaidd: Canfu ymchwil gan Brifysgol Birmingham (2025) fod defnydd gormodol o sgriniau yn gysylltiedig â sgorau is ar draws y cwricwlwm, llai o ganolbwyntio ar dasgau dosbarth, ac anawsterau gyda chof a datrys problemau.
• Cwsg a Lles: Mae mwy o ddefnydd o sgriniau, yn enwedig cyn amser gwely, yn tarfu ar batrymau cwsg, gan arwain at flinder a gostyngiad mewn gallu gwybyddol yn yr ysgol.
• Iechyd Meddwl ac Ymddygiad: Mae ymchwil y seicolegydd cymdeithasol Jonathan Haidt yn tynnu sylw at y ffaith bod amser sgrin uchel yn disodli gweithgareddau plentyndod hanfodol, gan gyfrannu at gyfraddau uwch o bryder, llai o ryngweithio cymdeithasol ac gwytnwch emosiynol is.
Manteision Lleihau Amser Sgrin:
✔️ Gwell Canolbwyntio a Dysgu: Llai o amser sgrin yn golygu llai o wrthdyniadau, gwell crynodiad a sgiliau datrys problemau cryfach.
✔️ Ansawdd Cwsg Gwell: Mae lleihau sgriniau cyn gwely yn helpu plant i gysgu'n well, gan wella hwyliau a lefelau egni ar gyfer yr ysgol.
✔️ Sgiliau Cymdeithasol Gwell: Mae mwy o ryngweithio wyneb yn wyneb yn cefnogi deallusrwydd emosiynol, cyfathrebu a gwaith tîm.
✔️ Annog Chwarae Gweithgar: Mae gweithgaredd corfforol yn gwella ffitrwydd, sgiliau modur a lles cyffredinol.
✔️ Hybu Greadigrwydd: Mae cymryd rhan mewn darllen, celf a gweithgareddau ymarferol yn meithrin dychymyg a thwf gwybyddol.
O safbwynt yr ysgol, sylwodd staff Blwyddyn 4 ar newid dramatig yn canolbwyntio’r disgyblion ar ôl ein taith breswyl i Abernant. Roedd y plant yn llawer mwy ffocysedig, llai o dynnu sylw eraill ac yn awyddus i gwblhau a chanolbwyntio ar dasgau ysgrifenedig/darllen yn y dosbarth ar ôl dim ond ychydig ddyddiau heb dechnoleg. Roedd y disgyblion yn llawer mwy cymhellol i gwblhau eu gwaith ac ysgrifennon nhw lythyrau diolch gwych i Ganolfan Awyr Agored Abernant.
Sut Gall Rieni Helpu:
• Pennu Amseroedd Heb Sgrin: Anogwch brydau bwyd heb ddyfeisiau, darllen cyn gwely, a gweithgareddau awyr agored.
• Blaenoriaethu Cynnwys o Ansawdd: Pan fydd sgriniau’n cael eu defnyddio, sicrhewch eu bod at ddibenion addysgol a rhyngweithiol.
• Arwain drwy Esiampl: Gall modelu arferion sgrin iach gael dylanwad cadarnhaol ar ymddygiad eich plentyn.
• Annog Gweithgareddau Amgen: Hyrwyddwch hobi fel chwaraeon, cerddoriaeth a chwarae creadigol i leihau dibyniaeth ar sgriniau.
Drwy gydweithio, gallwn helpu ein plant i ddatblygu arferion sgrin iachach sy’n cefnogi eu llwyddiant academaidd a’u lles cyffredinol.

Recent studies from 2025 emphasize that while technology plays an essential role in education, excessive screen time—especially unsupervised recreational use—can negatively affect learning, sleep, behavior, and mental health.
Key Findings from Recent Research:
• Academic Performance: Research from the University of Birmingham (2025) found that excessive screen use is linked to lower scores across the school, reduced focus on classroom tasks, and difficulties with memory and problem-solving.
• Sleep and Well-being: Increased screen exposure, especially before bedtime, disrupts sleep patterns, leading to tiredness and reduced cognitive function in school.
• Mental Health and Behavior: Social psychologist Jonathan Haidt’s research highlights that high screen time displaces essential childhood activities, contributing to higher rates of anxiety, reduced social interaction, and lower emotional resilience.
Benefits of Reducing Screen Time:

✔️ Better Sleep Quality: Reducing screens before bed helps children sleep better, improving mood and energy levels for school.

From a schools viewpoint, the year 4 staff noticed a dramatic change in the students’ concentration after our residential trip to Abernant, where the children were far more focused, less distracted and eager to finish/concentrate on written / reading tasks in class, after spending only a couple of days without any technology. The students were far more motivated to complete their work and wrote fantastic letters of Thanks to Abernant Outdoor Centre.
How Parents Can Help:
• Set Screen-Free Times: Encourage device-free meals, reading before bed, and outdoor activities.
• Prioritize Quality Content: When screens are used, ensure they are for educational and interactive purposes.
• Lead by Example: Modeling healthy screen habits can positively influence your child’s behavior.
• Encourage Alternative Activities: Promote hobbies like sports, music, and creative play to reduce reliance on screens.
